There was no CrossFit yesterday because I played in a softball game last night. I missed it, and found that I was more tight and less fluid in the game. Before I found CrossFit, I would completely spent for a couple of days post workout (weight, running). Never once would I have thought about softball after Crossfitting.
After performing the exercises and WOD for a solid 3 months now, I have found that my ability to recover and perform the WOD each day (3 on 1 off model) has improved tremendously.
Our bodies are amazing adaptors and they will recover and be ready for anything we throw at it---if we give it time to adapt.
