In this photo, we put 2 small plates under Sharon toes to make sure that she is driving through her heels during the squats. To ensure maximum hip power and rapid ascent/descent, we need maximal activation of the hip extensors. By lifting the toes, we are teaching her to stay off her toes(which mutes the hip), and focus on opening and closing the hips.
